Labs FAQs

Here you will find some frequently asked questions about the DeVry Labs, and some common solutions to your computing problems.

  • When can I use the Lab?
Mon. - Thurs., 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Saturday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
    Sunday, Closed

You may use the labs anytime during those hours provided that a class does not occupy it. The only exception to this rule concerns the Network Labs, Elvis Lab, and GSP Lab. A faculty or I.T. staff member must be present in the these Labs while students are in these labs.

  • May I save my work to the computers in the lab?
"NO" You can save your work to external med...Thumb Drives or CDRW's. Saving to the local hard drive is not an option as systems are formatted and reconfigured on an as needed basis.

  • How do I login to the classroom computers?
Your login for any computer in the classrooms, labs, the Academic Support Center (ASC) and the Library is the same. Please use your D number and password.

  • What is my academic lab account and password?
Your D Number and initially your birth date (yyyymm).

Example: Kelly Peters, D0012345 = D0012345. The password will be set to the user's Birth Date (yyyymm) or (devry), and the student will be prompted to change his/her password upon first login.

  • What is my account and password for Linux?
Your account is the same, and so is your password, initially. However, if you change the password for one or the other, then you'll have the same account, but different passwords for Windows and Linux OS. You can have the password for either account reset by the Help Desk.

  • How do I check-out lab equipment?
Approach the service window in the main Computer Lab (Room 106). Indicate which equipment you need to check-out. You will leave your student I.D. while you work with the equipment. When you are ready to leave the lab, return the equipment to the lab assistant at the service window and pick up your I.D. You may not take any of the equipment outside of the lab.

  • Who should I talk to if there is a problem with a computer, or if I have a question about hardware/software configuration?
Contact us at the service windows in the labs, or you can call/email us anytime.
    Telephone: (909) 868-4211
